Welcome Samy!

Well, I want to welcome our new addition to our family: Samy. Samy is NOT another fish. Samy is a 10 week orange tabby cat. He is the sweetest thing ever! And he is the tiniest thing I had ever seen, simply because he is only 10 weeks old.

We had planned to get another cat, as a companion for our current cat, Mary. Mary seemed very depressed since Corinne had started school, and we thought another cat might help her through this time. We also were ready for another cat. Corinne has been asking me if we can get another cat, and I kind of been wanting one as well. So, now that we are in a house, this would be a good time to get another cat.

We went to PetSmart, thinking that if we didn't see one there, we would go where we got Mary, at the Houston SPCA. The pets that are at PetSmart are adopted out by CAP (Citizens for Animal Protection). I talked to the lady and told her what we were looking for, and Corinne checked out the cats. She found this 10 week tabby. I was kind of hesitant because he was so small and young, but after playing with him and holding him, we made the decision to go ahead and get him. He seemed very happy to be held and played with. The only catch was that he was not yet neutered, so we have to wait until tomorrow before we can take him home. I filled out the paperwork, and reluctantly gave him back. We told Samy that we will pick him up tomorrow. We have to go to the shelter, not the store, to pick him up. But he will be ours.

While at PetSmart, we went ahead and got a small litter box (Mary's is too big for him) and kitten food. We were trying to find a collar, but they were all too big. Everything else we have. We need to get a brush for him, but we don't have to have that today. We just want to get him home and start the introductions to Mary.

Since Mary is a very happy go lucky cat, I don't think there will be a problem with Mary and this new cat. Since he is a kitten, he will probably look to Mary for guidance. I think Mary may even act as a surrogant mother in the beginning until they get to know each other. As he grows, they'll become more equal, and he won't be as dependent on her. I don't know. That is my theory. Check back with me and see what actually happens.

We forgot to take pictures while we were there, so when we get him home, we'll take some pictures. And I'll post them here.

Welcome Samy!!!!
