It was a rough night last night. We were hot because it was so humid. We slept in the living room to cool off and slept with the windows open, but it didn't do any good. We were still hot.
Our kitten still is sneezing his head off. I feel so bad for him. He's spending a lot of time sleeping, I guess because he feels so bad. I have an appointment to bring him in on Tuesday for his initial visit, but if I can, I will try to get him in tomorrow. I hope he can hang on until then.
The refrigerator situation was evaluation again. We decided to move critical food into the cooler. We also moved whatever was still frozen (like water bottles and ice packs) to help keep things cool. The rest of the food that wasn't worth saving stayed in the fridge. It looks like we'll be OK for another day.
A cool front came through today, which took out the humidity. Thank goodness! This was a God thing! No one ever goes through a hurricane, then has a cool front come through and make everything cool and no humidity. That's just amazing! But I am so grateful and glad, because I don't think I could stand another day of humidity.
Two of our neighbors have generators. You can hear them, day and night, running like a kitten's purr. It actually sounds like a lawn mower continuously running. I keep expecting to see one of my neighbors mowing the lawn, and expecting the sound to stop any moment. But it doesn't, and after awhile you get used to it.
We met our neighbors across the street today. They came home and started unloading. Then the father came over to us and brought us COLD water and Gatorade. You should have seen the look on my face. I was so grateful to have something COLD. He introduced himself, and told us if we ever needed anything, to let him know. I thank him as he went back across the street.
As we settled for the evening, we found the emergency candles that my ex-husband left at the house, and started using them. It made a difference because we didn't have to use up our battery power. I had placed a flashlight in the bathroom so that when we went to the bathroom, it wouldn't be so dark.
Tonight, we attempted to play some board games. Corinne kept beating me in all of the games. I didn't know how rusty I got. Maybe we should play more often...
