We're OK part 4

We are still off of work/school. I woke up about 7 am, needing to go to the bathroom. Do you ever get to the point where you don't want to get out of bed, just to go to the bathroom, but you know you need to go? I was at that point, and was making my way slowly out of bed when I looked out the window and saw a small head bob up and down in front of the window. I sat for a minute, looking to see what it was. Then I saw it again. IT WAS MY CAT, MARY!!! She never goes outside, and to see her outside sent shockwaves throughout my body. I yelled, "MARY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUTSIDE?????" That woke Corinne up and she sprang up before I can get up off of the floor. She got Mary and brought her back inside.

Now, Mary is 5 years old, and wiser than Samy, and she knows she isn't supposed to be outside. We think what happened was that she got out of one of the windows that doesn't have a screen (they have cloth shade covers that aren't quite secure around the windows). She must have gotten out, then couldn't figure out how to come back in, so she came to the front. We are lucky that she didn't leave the area, or get picked up by someone.

Corinne had went to a friend's house and I was home, crocheting. Suddenly, around 2:30 pm, the lights came on! For about 10 minutes, we had lights (and cable!), then the transformer blew, and we lost the lights. A couple of flickers, and the transformer kept blowing. So, we were without lights once more. About 4:30 pm, the lights came back again, and this time, they stayed on. I immediately watched the coverage regarding the hurricane. For the next hour, I was amazed to see the damage from the storm. I was so grateful for power, but not so grateful to see the damage.

I then went to the fridge and started throwing out food that was spoiled. Some of the condiments survived so I left them, but we had left over food, eggs, and butter that didn't fit in the cooler and didn't survive, so they got tossed. Pretty soon I had a clean refrigerator. I felt like I had a fresh start on life, somehow.
