Well, it's Day 2 of my new job, and I love it! The best way that I can describe my new job is that is a bit overwhelming because of the amount of information that I have to learn, but it's overwhelming in a good way. There is so much to learn!
Everyone is so nice! I've been introduced to numerous people than happen to come into our department. Some I have remembered, but most I will probably have to ask for their name again. There are so many people to meet!
One of the things that I was surprised by was that I was told that a Franklin Covey planner needed to be ordered for me. Apparently everyone gets one of these planners. I had pick out which one I wanted, and what theme paper I wanted. And then I was told that I was to go to a class in November on how to use the "Frankie". Today, I found out that I really did need the Frankie. I already have about 5 or 6 meetings and classes that I have to go to and put on my calendar, and there is more to come. Until I get my Frankie, I typed up a blank calendar and started plugging in my appointments/meetings by hand on this calendar.
I was also told to make a list of the things I need for my desk. There were things like a letter stacker, a shelf (to put knick knacks and small items on), a lamp (apparently I had a dark area near my desk), a copy holder, and drawer organizer. I was trying not to be extravagant, but I was told to get whatever I needed. So, as I come across something I need, I would put on the list. I was told when they open up the budget again, the order would be placed.
At the moment, I don't have a logon for my computer, so I have to use someone else's logon to do my work. I don't have an email address yet, nor do I have a password for the phone. I can't set up my phone because I don't have a password. But I know that soon I will get those things, and I will soon be able to set up these things.
Tomorrow, I have to attend a conference call regarding one of the projects I'm working on. Then I have to go over to our warehouse for another meeting regarding the same project. A lot of people I know don't like to go to meetings, but I love them. I just hope that I can be of help. I'm still trying to learn what's going on, much less asking sensible questions about a project I'm not familiar with.
Pray for me as I learn this stuff quickly so that I can be of help to the project. Right now I feel useless, but I know that in time I will be familiar with everything and can answer questions intelligently.
