Still Busy

The last two weeks we had the pleasure of having my ex-husband come and visit with us. His friend, Susan, was conducting a Lifeguard class, and he always comes down to Houston to help her with the class. Corinne also helped with the class since she is a Lifeguard Instructor. They conducted the two classes three days out of the whole week in the evening. Most of the time I stayed home while they went to the class. One day, though, I went with them because Susan needed someone to help teach Community CPR. I was quite intimidated teaching with Susan because she is so skilled and has been doing this for many years. I've only been teaching for two years, off and on.

We are finished with TAKS testing at work now, so today my boss' boss treated us to a pizza lunch. We ate there at work, around our conference table. I always feel so intimidated with her around. (Looks like I've been intimated lately, huh?) I felt like I was eating my pizza wrong or something. Anyway, the only thing coming up is summer testing and Credit by Exam, which I am a part of. Then we have to gear up for the beginning of school. Never ending cycle.

In Girl Scouts, we had our End of the Year dinner for my troop this past Tuesday. We went to Gringo's, and I think the girls had fun. I think the most memorable part of the whole evening was when we saw Kierstan dancing outside of the restaurant to Mexican music. Corinne kept ducking because the waiters were passing by with sizzling fajitas, and she kept thinking they were going to drop them on her head! Of course, they didn't, but it doesn't make you feel any better.

We also have our Leader Appreciation dinner tomorrow night. I always like to go to those because they give out awards (and they have prizes!). And they have good food! I like watching people get their awards because a lot of times they are very deserving of the award. There are so many ladies in our service unit that give a lot to the girls in their troop and to the service unit. And they so deserve the award that they are getting. It's also the last time we see everyone before summer. A lot of times the leaders don't come to all of the leader meetings, even though they are supposed to. But when food is offered, you better believe they will come!

This Sunday, I have to go to another Girl Scout meeting. This is one that is an afternoon of enrichment classes that will help me teach the classes for Girl Scouts. I'm looking forward to this because I will be getting some good tips. Then next Saturday, June 6th, I will be with Girl Scouts all day (again) learning to be a council trainer. I applied to be a trainer, and was accepted, after being sent an invitation from a recommendation. I'm already teaching CPR/First Aid and BLT (Basic Leadership Training, the first class new leaders take), so I decided to take the next step. I've always wanted to be a council trainer, but felt it wasn't the right time. With Corinne leaving the troop this year, and next year will be my girls last year, I felt like the time is right now. Hopefully, I won't be INTIMIDATED (there's that word again).

On top of all of this, we have a car clinic this Saturday. This car clinic will be different for me. This will be the first time that both Corinne and I will be taking a car to the car clinic. When my ex was here, he fixed my old van (Cara) and got it running. So now, Corinne is driving Cara, while I'm still driving the new van, Cara Ann. Cara needs an oil change, tune-up, and an inspection (something we can't get there). Cara Ann needs an oil change, look at the brakes, look at my horn, and figure out why the back door won't open easy (I usually have to tug and pull forever before the door will open).

I think I need to schedule in some sleep somewhere...
