Working for a school district, you get perks, like Spring Break. Yesterday was our last day before Spring Break, and it was one of those "whew" days. You know, the kind of day that was at the end of a series of very stressful days preceding it. A kind of day you can finally wrap things up and get ready to relax. That is what Friday was.
Friday everyone, except for me and a co-worker, went to the warehouse to get the last of the state TAKS test ready to ship. The office was quiet, except for counselors calling about an email one of the co-workers that went to the warehouse sent out. Since we didn't know how to answer the questions, all we could do was leave messages.
The co-worker who had breast cancer surgery, Isabel, came by to visit today. Her doctor gave her the OK to drive on Thursday, so she was in the car immediately after that. She is not the kind of person to stand around. She is 62 years old, but acts like she's 30 or 40 years old. She is constantly on the go. She was already getting cabin fever, so needed to get out. However, when she visited, she moved a little slower, and looked tired. Understandably, since she just had surgery three weeks ago. I can tell, though, that she needed the visit.
She is going to face a long 12 weeks ahead of her. She is scheduled for chemo, and may loose her hair, get nauseous, and be even more tired than she is now. She wants to return to work at the end of April, but I'm not sure if she will be able to handle it. I just pray that she won't experience it full blown.
Everyone got back around 3 pm and it was noisy in the office once again. I was glad when 4:30 pm came around. I was looking forward to resting. I've been tired all week, partly because of the time change, partly because of the activity of the office. I am looking forward to resting this next week coming up.
