We've been in our new home for about a week now. It's been an interesting week. The week before the move, Corinne left for church camp, so I had no one at home helping me pack. One of my friends came over and brought some help to move boxes on Wednesday. By Friday, I was tired, and I wasn't near ready to move, and I was panicking because I didn't have anyone that would commit to helping me move.
Let me back up. We did find a place to move. No matter how many apartments we looked at, we weren't happy and didn't get that "feeling" that would be our next home. You know that feeling. It's a peaceful feeling that you get knowing that THIS is the home you should get. I wasn't getting that feeling on any of the apartments we looked at.
My ex-husband asked me awhile back if we wanted to move into the house and lease it from him. He wasn't ready to sell yet, and he wasn't getting any real buyers. Corinne and I started to seriously consider this offer, especially since we hadn't found anything. Like I said in the last blog, this house would be closer to where I work, but further from Corinne's work. However, we got that feeling. All of the apartments were close to what he was asking, and we would get a two bedroom, two bath house with a whole lot more room than our one bedroom apartment. So, we made arrangements, and we are now in the house.
The problem is that my ex-husband still has stuff here, and we had to move our stuff and wait until he moves his stuff to put things away. We are kind of crowded right now as we shuffle things around, but soon he will be leaving for awhile and we can put things away like we want them.
So, last Saturday, we moved. And I did get some help, which I appreciated very much. But I had to beg and plea everyone I knew, and some people I didn't know. But we got everything moved last weekend. Now the fun begins: finding things.
This week has been a game of trying to find things. I still haven't found my silverware, so we're using some that Corinne just bought, and some of my ex-husband's. There is some software that we've been trying to find: who knows which box its in? And we don't know which box the remote for the front TV is in. (We couldn't set the TV because it was locked out).
Yesterday, after we carefully placed boxes on the top, and all of my clothes and Corinne's clothes in my closet, the closet rod suddenly took a nose dive. We had a mess of clothes and box contents all over the closet. My ex immediately went to work to reinforce the closet rod and Corinne and I picked up all of the clothes and boxes. I put all of my clothes back, but stuck to light boxes on the top. Corinne was afraid to put her clothes back on the rod, so she stuck her clothes in suitcases in the meantime.
Today, I argued with the cable guy. He spent 5 hours outside, running cables, etc. and came in the house put the outlets, and attempted to hook the front TV and the internet, but wasn't able to connect. So he tells me to call Customer service to have them walk me through on connecting the internet. He didn't even connect the back TV's. After he left, I was so mad, because I tried to connect my TV in my room, but it wasn't working. I finally got the TV and the cable hooked up together, but I still lacked my VCR. I finally called the cable company back and asked them to send someone back "to finish the job". The guy should have hooked all of my TV's and made sure they were working before he left. As normal, they said they would have someone call me within 24 hours. Just send someone to my house to fix the problem!
Hopefully, they'll call tomorrow and send someone tomorrow to get the problem fixed. Tomorrow is a new day!
